BioDHA

DHA is the most abundant essential fatty acid in the brain and retina. It comprises 40% of the PUFAs in the brain and 60% in the retina. About 50% of the weight of a neuron’s plasma membrane is DHA. With increased attention as a food additive, its healthcare value is more important than ever.

Bioplus manufactures DHA using vegetative fermentation with microalgae:
  • BioDHA Algal Powder
  • BioDHA Algal Oil

Applications include beverages, chocolates, ice creams, bakeries, yogurt, and infant food.

What is Algal DHA?

Algal DHA is a vegetarian, sustainable, and highly stable Omega-3 DHA sourced from the microalgae Schizochytrium. Unlike fish oil, which gets DHA indirectly from algae, this is a direct plant-based source. It’s vegan, non-GMO, allergen-free, and extracted under tightly controlled conditions. It delivers 97% of the brain’s omega-3 DHA in a clean, fish-free form.

Why Algal DHA?

Fish obtain Omega-3 from algae, but fish oil can be contaminated and produce unpleasant burps. Algal DHA is clean, easy to process, and avoids marine toxins like mercury and heavy metals. Toxicological tests confirm its safety and stability, with no reproductive or developmental risks.

Why DHA?

DHA is a vital omega-3 fatty acid for the brain, heart, and eyes. It supports brain development, learning, cognition, and cardiovascular health. It also helps reduce inflammation and blood clot risks. Adequate DHA improves memory and brain performance, while a deficiency may hinder cognitive function.
